Engage Your Tribal Community

Help AISES create STEM opportunities and pathways within tribal communities that will nurture, empower, and sustain the next seven generations.

Bring STEM and AISES to Your Tribal Community

Tribes are the hubs of our communities. We engage directly with tribal communities to deliver impactful programming from early education to professional career development. By forging strong partnerships, we ensure access to valuable resources, amplify tribal STEM successes, and address the unique needs of tribal nations.

Join us in building a future where every tribal member thrives.

Join other Tribal Nations in creating STEM pathways for tribal communities.

We are seeking passionate and committed individuals to help shape the future of our communities by serving on TNAC. TNAC provides an opportunity for tribal decision makers to support AISES by giving crucial feedback and sharing ideas related to STEM workforce development and education needs.

Steward an AISES tribal chapter

AISES Tribal Chapters are grounded in self-determination and community vision. They are shaped by the people they serve and are tailored to meet the unique goals of each tribe. Whether you're mentoring students, developing tribal STEM programs, or building a professional network, an AISES Tribal Chapter helps you build a future rooted in culture and innovation.

Scheduling a meeting with our Chapter Engagement team at chapters@aises.org.

Support documentation from tribal officials will be required.

Camps are tailored to community needs and can include field trips to local colleges, cultural sites, and hands-on activities to highlight STEM concepts.

After-School Programs

AISES developed and facilitated

Tribes can increase their STEM capacity by partnering with AISES on the After-School STEM College and Career Readiness (CCR) Program in the following ways:

  • Building a Local STEM Talent Pathway: By engaging K–12 students early through after-school programming focused on college and career readiness, tribes can cultivate future scientists, engineers, and innovators from within their own communities.
  • Leveraging AISES Resources and Networks: Partnering with AISES gives tribes access to a wide range of established educational programs, mentorship opportunities, and national networks, including the National American Indian Science and Engineering Fair (NAISEF) and AISES college/professional chapters.
  • Creating Sustainable STEM Education Infrastructure: Through the full-circle model, which includes culturally relevant programming, mentorship, and support services, tribes can develop sustainable educational pathways aligned with their long-term workforce and economic development goals.
  • Strengthening Tribal-University-Industry Collaboration: The partnership with AISES and industry leaders connects tribal communities to corporate and academic partners, opening doors to internships, scholarships, and future employment opportunities.
  • Supporting Local Educators and Advisors: Faculty and community mentors receive guidance and training through AISES-curated programming, increasing tribal capacity to deliver high-quality STEM education and provide long-term student support.
  • Promoting Tribal Sovereignty Through STEM: Increasing tribal capacity in STEM empowers communities to solve local challenges, manage natural resources, and guide technological development in ways that align with cultural values and community priorities.
  • Showcasing and Scaling Tribal STEM Success: Participation in national AISES events allows tribes to highlight student achievements, attract external funding, and replicate effective STEM models across other Indigenous communities.
  • By partnering with AISES, tribes not only expand access to STEM learning but also strengthen their self-determination and long-term resilience through Indigenous-led workforce development.

STEM Early Childhood Education Curriculum Development

To develop early childhood STEM programming, AISES curriculum development experts ensure programs are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and effective in fostering long-term interest in STEM among Indigenous children. We can tailor curriculum to your needs, whether it is an early childhood or Headstart program.

Tribes can benefit in numerous impactful ways by partnering with AISES on teacher professional development.

1. Strengthening Culturally Responsive STEM Education

By training STEM educators in Indigenous Knowledge and pedagogy, tribes ensure that teaching methods align with their cultural values, histories, and worldviews, making STEM more relevant and meaningful for Indigenous students.

2. Increasing Teacher Retention in Tribal Communities

The program equips educators—both Indigenous and non-Indigenous—with tools to succeed and feel supported in Indigenous-serving schools, directly addressing high turnover rates that often disrupt student learning in tribal communities.

3. Enhancing Student Engagement and Success

With teachers trained to use inquiry-based, place-based, and culturally grounded pedagogy, students are more likely to feel connected to STEM subjects, increasing their confidence, academic performance, and long-term interest in STEM careers.

4. Building Tribal Educational Sovereignty

Tribes take an active role in shaping educational content and delivery by integrating Indigenous Knowledge systems into mainstream STEM education, promoting self-determination in how education is developed and delivered to their youth.
