Rachel Yellowhair (Navajo), recipient of the Blazing Flame Award, overcame limited role models, personal loss, and early setbacks to pursue higher education and build a successful career at Raytheon Technologies. Inspired by her father’s emphasis on education and shaped by hardship after his passing, she persevered through challenges, ultimately earning degrees in mathematics and computer science. Now a senior manager, Yellowhair leads digital technology operations while dedicating thousands of hours to mentoring Native students. By openly sharing her struggles and successes, she provides an authentic model of resilience and determination, encouraging Indigenous youth to pursue STEM careers and persist despite obstacles.
