Conference to the largest detention facility on the border in Brownsville, Texas, to lead a prayer ceremony for immigrant children held there. Dr. Mann also addressed the immigration issue in an essay posted on Indian Country Today titled “One More Heartbreaking Road to Historical Trauma.”
,Michael Charles has been named one of only  ve winners of the inaugural Generation
Indigenous Movement Builders Fellowship, awarded by the Center for Native Ameri- can Youth. The Gen-I fellowship recog- nizes young activists who are working for
social and environmental justice causes they care about, with the goal of helping them diversify their networks and so strengthen
the voice of Native young people creating positive change. Charles
is a PhD candidate in chemical engineering at the Ohio State University.

Zaida Morales-Martinez, professor emeritus of chemistry at Florida International University, has received the prestigious Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring for her role as an instrumental part of the American Chemical Society’s Scholars Program, which she has been a part of since its inception. Morales-Marti- nez coordinated the ACS Project SEED (Summer Experience for the Economically Disadvan- taged) program for South Florida.
