The National Native Scholarship Providers ((NNSPs) – College Fund, Cobell Scholarship Program, Advancing Indigenous Science and Engineering Society, and American Indian Graduate Center*) collaborated to conduct this research project.

Native scholars benefit most from mentorship that honors their culture. Culturally-informed mentorship supports persistence in STEM, countering underrepresentation and the legacy of colonization.

In this report you will be able to review the accomplishments of the organization, namely our broad reach of programs, special events, conferences, and advisory councils, in support of the Indigenous STEM community.

In 2020, the AISES family met unprecedented challenges amid a global pandemic with strength, resilience, and unity. Guided by the strength of our ancestors and the compassion of our members, we moved forward—committed to growth, education, and a limitless Indigenous future in STEM.

The purpose of the literature review is to develop an understanding of the strategies known to improve the educational outcomes of Native students.

In 2019, we continued to provide critically needed STEM programming and services to students and professionals, enabling them to enhance their knowledge and skills to problem solve, innovate, and build careers in academia, industry, government agencies, and tribal communities.

This article shows that honoring Native values of giving back can support STEM success. Embracing this value helps address underrepresentation and fosters broader inclusion strategies.

We are proud of our 40+ year history of providing opportunities in STEM to Indigenous students and professionals. As we look to our future, we are committed to furthering the AISES mission by offering more programming, scholarships, internships, and other important STEM opportunities.
