Alicia is a sophomore at the University of New Mexico studying Environmental Science with a minor in Native American Studies. She is a proud member of the Navajo Nation with her clans being; Táchii’nii nishłi ̨́. Bilagáana bashishchiin. Kin Łichíi’nii dashicheii. Nakaii dashinalí.
Alicia is currently an undergraduate researcher for UNM Metals Exposure and Toxicity Assessment on Tribal Lands in the Southwest (UNM METALS) Superfund Research Program Center. She is currently assessing the air quality near Laguna Pueblo’s large uranium mine.
Alicia is very active on campus by working with UNM Student Support Services-TRIO to help first generation students with their personal statements and resumes for scholarships. She is the communications chair for UNM Kiva Club (the oldest Native American club on campus). The Undergraduate Co-Chair for Native American Studies Research Group. An active member of UNM AISES Chapter. She is also a member of Pi Lambda Chi Latina Sorority Inc.
Alicia has been a member of AISES for the past four years now. AISES has inspired her that she can be a scientist and pursue her PhD in Environmental Science. She is very excited to represent Region 3 and will be there for any student!
