
Gracie Diabo (Mohawk)
Gracie Diabo is Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk) from Kahnawake Mohawk Territory, part of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Engineering in Software Engineering Co-op at McGill University in Montreal.
Named a 2023 Loran Scholar, Gracie is an active leader at McGill and in her community. Before university, she founded a student club for Indigenous students at her college, creating a space for cultural connection and community. She serves as Co-President of POWE (Promoting Opportunities for Women in Engineering) for the 2025-2026 academic year, following her role as a VP in 2024-2025, where she organized a major annual event connecting and uplifting women in engineering through workshops, mentorship, and professional networking. She is also involved with McGill AISES and the Engineering Society’s Indigenous Inclusion Committee, working to revitalize AISES’ presence on campus and foster a strong Indigenous STEM community. She’s excited to work with AISES to uplift Indigenous students across Canada in this role!
Gracie is interested in product management, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, and sustainability, aiming to develop or work with impactful software solutions that integrate Indigenous perspectives and accessibility. She hopes to gain industry experience before transitioning into roles that bridge technology and leadership. Beyond her technical interests, she is committed to giving back to her community and inspiring the next generation through speaker engagements and outreach.
Outside of school, she enjoys Pilates, weightlifting, and spending time with family and friends. She also loves learning new skills through local cultural classes and online opportunities.
