Addison Thompson

Addison Thompson (Ojibwe)

Region 5 Student Representative

Boozhoo! Addison Thompson is a proud Ojibwe student from the Fond Du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. She is currently pursuing a degree in Biology, Society, and Environment with a minor in Native American Studies at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, where she is also a BA/MD Scholar committed to becoming a Native physician serving Indigenous communities.

Addison has been deeply involved in the American Indian Student Cultural Center (AISCC) since her freshman year and served as Co-President for two consecutive years. She is also a board member of the UMN AISES chapter and had the privilege of presenting her research at the AISES National Conference. Through the Native Americans in Medicine program, she has conducted community-based research and shadowed Native healthcare professionals—experiences that helped her deepen her connection to both her academic and cultural identity.

As a Kickoff Leader for both Native American and Multicultural, Addison helps welcome and support incoming students, continuing her passion for mentorship and community building. Grounded in her identity and driven by a responsibility to her people, she aims to return home as a physician who not only heals but creates opportunities for future generations. She is honored to serve and represent Region 5 through AISES and looks forward to building stronger Indigenous networks in STEM.
