AISES has eight advisory councils established to guide our work through council members’ industry expertise, diverse perspectives, Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK), and community collaboration.

The AISES Council of Elders share their wisdom and guidance with AISES students and with the organization as a whole, representing an integral aspect of the AISES philosophy of passing on knowledge to the next generation.
The CAC is a professional association of corporate individuals who support AISES in its mission to increase the representation of Native people in STEM, providing industry advice and counsel to AISES Leadership.
The GRC works to establish and support working relationships between Federal government agencies and AISES.
The CIAC works with AISES in creating opportunities for Canadian Indigenous members and to advise AISES on issues of relevance and importance to its Canadian Indigenous members.
Harnessing the collective wisdom of our Tribal Nations, the TNAC collaborates to create STEM opportunities and pathways within tribal communities that will nurture, empower, and sustain the next seven generations.
CEDAR is dedicated to catalyzing systemic change within educational institutions and workspaces, striving to cultivate environments that are not only equitable but also inclusive.
The AAC is comprised of faculty at a U.S. or Canadian institution of higher education who play a vital role in advising AISES on academic matters ensuring a vibrant academic ecosystem.
The PCC advises AISES on issues important to professional chapters and members and continually works to increase opportunities for AISES professionals.
The AISES Council of Elders are a key part of our organization. Our elders educate our members on cultural practices, guiding the actions of the organization, and helping to build the foundation that supports the work of future generations. Elders attend AISES events across the nation, and lead talking circles and other events centered around creating safe spaces for the students and professionals who attend them. They also welcome and honor new Sequoyahs, our lifetime members and relatives. The council’s role is essential to members and staff alike.

The CAC meets four times annually (2 virtual and 2 in person) and the CAC Chair represents the CAC at regularly scheduled AISES Board meetings. In addition, council members are encouraged to join one or more of the following subcommittees:
The GRC is comprised of U.S. Government employees who support working relationships between Federal government agencies and AISES, and identifies government resources, develops strategies, and promotes government careers by:

The primary role of the CIAC is to advise AISES on issues of relevance and importance to its Canadian Indigenous (Status and Non-Status First Nations, Metis and Inuit) members. In addition, the CIAC also works to assist AISES in creating opportunities for Canadian Indigenous members and to support the AISES mission of substantially increasing the representation of Canadian Indigenous Peoples in STEM by:

Join TNAC to serve as a liaison between Tribal Nations and AISES by attending four meetings annually either in-person or virtually. The TNAC Chair represents the TNAC at regularly scheduled AISES Board meetings.
Educational institutions and workspaces often don’t have the support systems in place to recruit and retain Indigenous students and employees. AISES seeks to change this by focusing on systemic change in educational institutions and workspaces to create equitable and inclusive environments in which Indigenous students and professionals belong, contribute, and thrive.

The AAC provides guidance to AISES regarding academic matters such as grant proposal writing, educational and research project design, faculty careers, college admissions and financial aid, postgraduate study and fellowship opportunities, research opportunities, and other higher education opportunities.
