Buzz Cobell
AISES GRC Chair

I am from Browning, Montana and I am an enrolled member of the Blackfeet Nation. I am a U.S. Army veteran, draft lottery #27, the only lottery I ever won! I have a B.S. in Recreation Area Management from Montana State University and an M.S. in Fisheries and Wildlife Management from Utah State University. I served for 6 years as the Director of the Blackfeet Fish, Wildlife, and Parks Department, where I was able to establish two large big game management areas which enhanced the reservation elk population and greatly increased tribal subsistence hunting opportunities. I have worked 27 years for the Federal government, including the following positions: Law Enforcement Ranger and Natural Resources Ranger in Glacier National Park; Natural Resources Specialist and Environmental Protection Specialist for the Bureau of Indian Affairs; 11 years as a Supervisory Fish and Wildlife Biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Roosevelt, Utah and Bozeman, Montana; and I currently serve as a Tribal Account Executive for Bonneville Power Administration, in Portland, Oregon. I am an active supporter of the Native American Fish and Wildlife Society (NAFWS)and American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES). When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my 5 children and 3 grandchildren. I also love to hike, fish, camp, hunt, ski, and play basketball.
