Marcellus Proctor
AISES Professional Sequoyah Fellow
Marcellus A. Proctor is an enrolled member of the Piscataway-Conoy Nation, which is located in Southern Maryland (20 miles South of Washington D.C.). He is currently the Associate Office Head of the Parts, Packaging, & Assembly Technologies Office at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (NASA/GSFC). He started working with Native American youth while attending University of Maryland College Park and continuing at NASA/GSFC. In 2005, Marcellus was selected to be a Co-Investigator (Co-I) for a GSFC research project that would establish a 4-year accredited engineering program at a tribal college and utilizing GSFC engineers to teach various courses at Salish Kootenai College, located in Polson, MT. On top of his regular technical and supervisory duties, he is also the Chair of the Native American Advisory Committee (NAAC), which was established in January 2007. The NAAC reports out to GSFC senior management on current issues and accomplishments of Native Americans at NASA/GSFC. Marcellus is an AISES Sequoyah Fellow and the first Native American to be a lifetime member of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). |
