My Statement of Purpose: My desire to pursue a career in medicine was greatly defined by my experiences growing up in an economically challenged family. As I threaded through the hardships of growing up without the fundamentals of a functional environment, it became clear that my calling involved bettering social interest to the best of my ability. I decided that medicine was to be my ultimate finalism during the sixth grade. I was given the opportunity to shadow a group of physicians at the local Air Force base near Rapid City. I was greatly excited by the number of technologies introduced during this shadowing. It was at that time that I knew that medicine was something that I could do well. I believe that helping people has always been in my nature; however, my ultimate goal of becoming a physician is greater than simply seeing patients and diagnosing disease. With the opportunity to become a physician comes the opportunity to change lives. |
