2007 Board Election Results

On behalf of the AISES Board of Directors Nomination Committee it is our pleasure to announce the results of the 2007 AISES Board of Directors Election.

This year brought two records to date for the election of three Board positions.

1.   We had twelve candidates to run for the three seats; and
2.   The number of votes that were cast was the highest recorded in AISES Board Elections with a total of 383 votes cast.  We also received 3 write in votes cast as well.

The three candidates that received the highest votes were:

1. Kiutus Tecumseh
2. Mary Jo Ondrechen
3. Cara Cowan Watts

Thanks to all the General Members comments that expressed what we saw was a slate of all highly qualified candidates and a very close race!  Our congratulations to the new Board Members and they will assume their duties at the National Conference in November 2007 till the end of their terms in 2010.

Per the AISES Bylaws, the Board of Directors is elected by AISES' general members. The Board represents the AISES membership, including student members, via the non-voting National Student Representatives, who attend all Board meetings. It is the responsibility of the Board to ensure the Society stays focused on the mission and to guide the headquarters' operations. The Executive Director is employed by the Board and is directed to lead the day-to-day business of the Society.

The Board of Directors is comprised of American Indian professionals in science and engineering fields, currently chaired by Andrew Conseen Duff, Eastern Band of Cherokee.
